That's exactly what we've built. And we make it available for free to everyone who loves basketball.

From the court to the code

At Metanous, it’s all about AI-driven software and data solutions—but behind the company are people with a real passion for sports. We have been sponsoring Donza, the basketball club from De Pinte, for years and enjoy following their games.

This combination of technical expertise and basketball passion led us to ask ourselves: what if we made Basketball Flanders’ data directly available in the AI tools people use every day?

The answer to that question is this integration.

What exactly can you do with it?

Once you’ve activated the integration in your AI assistant, you can simply ask questions about Flemish basketball in plain language. Below are some example questions and their corresponding answers:

Donza is clearly stronger in the rankings. Borgerhout has a negative point differential and sits in the lower regions of the Top Division.

Head-to-head

In the first match, on November 22 in Deinze, Donza won 74–68. Borgerhout could not win at home, and Donza is familiar with their playing style.

What kind of game will it be?

Donza is clearly the favorite, even away. Borgerhout is a team that loses more than it wins this season, scores few points (averaging 72.8), and has been in poor form in recent weeks. Donza scores on average more than 10 points per game than their opponent that weekend.

Show me a chart of Donza’s points distribution for all games this season. Stronger away or at home?

The answer is clear: Donza is much stronger at home.

At home, they win on average by +8.7 points (87.2 scored, 78.5 conceded), and their 10W–2L record speaks for itself. The two home losses — against Neufchâteau (79–82) and CB Liège (82–94) — were both close games or against strong opponents.

Away is a different story: 4W–7L, and on average they lose by a few points (79.5 scored, 84.5 conceded). They can win on the road — Waregem (89–88), Willebroek (93–87), and Ieper (76–63) were nice away victories — but consistency is lacking.

Over the past year and a half, Metanous has built significant expertise in AI: how to deploy it, how to make it safe, how to connect it to existing systems and data, and how to create real value for organizations.

This Basketball Flanders integration is one concrete example of what’s possible. The underlying technology — accessing external data via a so-called MCP server — is the exact same approach we use for our clients in other sectors.

How do you activate it?

The integration works in any environment that supports MCP servers, such as Claude or ChatGPT. Installation takes only a few minutes. Below is a short guide on how to activate this integration within Claude.
